Description:

The Monitor – Day Camp is responsible for planning, leading and participating in activities for children and young people aged 5 to 14. The Monitor must follow the safety procedures in order ensure the well-being of children attending the camp, and during all scheduled activities. She or he must attend the training camp and apply the principles taught there throughout the summer.

Departmental mission:

The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

General responsibilities and goals:

• Attend and take part in the pre-season training camp;
• Must know at all times which children she or is responsible for;
• Applies the safety procedures learned at the training camp;
• Supervises the participants in her or his group at all times, and must know where they are at all times;
• Implements safety measures;
• Provides liaison between parents and the Camp Supervisor;
• Develops positive relationships and maintains a high level of motivation and enthusiasm with the campers;
• Ensures that the camp and surrounding area are clean. Ensures that any equipment used is properly stored after every activity;
• Administrative tasks such as reports and evaluations.

Job requirements:

• Bilingualism (French and English spoken and written);
• Good communicator with demonstrated enthusiasm for working with youth;
• Ability to work in a team setting;
• Organizational skills;
• Can adapt, open-mindedly, to various unforeseen situations.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday
Approximately 37 hours per week
June to August
