Responsibilities and goals associated with the position

Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Cultural Activities, the violin teacher is responsible for teaching violin using the Suzuki method to adults and children (ages 4 and up) at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre. We are looking for a bilingual teacher who has experience with children and who can give individual as well as group lessons. The Suzuki music program has been offered at the Cultural Centre for many years. The violin teacher will teach current students as well

Job requirements:

Requirements

• Appropriate academic music education (has or is working towards a bachelor’s degree in music)
• Experience in teaching violin (at least one year)
• Suzuki teacher training (completed or in the process of completing)
• Ability to speak French and English
• Experience working with children, teens and adults
• Good communication and listening skills
• Independent, responsible
• Ability to motivate
• Strong organizational skills
• Team player

Schedule:

Approximately 4 hours per week, Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for individual lessons, as well as Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. once a month for group lessons (8 lessons) between September and May.
The violin teacher must also be available for recitals on December 14, 2024 and May 24, 2025
