Description:

Reporting to the Project Manager - Municipal Infrastructures, the Project Engineer – Municipal Infrastructures is involved in defining, designing, planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling the activities and resources required to carry out municipal infrastructure development, rehabilitation or improvement projects. The Project Engineer works in a variety of sectors, including but not limited to the reconstruction of roadways, sidewalks, curbs, sewer systems and waterworks. Project engineers carry out studies and expert appraisals as required.

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of all public infrastructures in order to support sustainable development and improve citizens’ quality of life.

General responsibilities and goals:

The main responsibilities of the incumbent are as follows:

• Design plans and cost estimates;
• Prepare plans and specifications in accordance with current standards;
• Prepare specifications for tenders and requests for quotations;
• Participate in the development of changes or adjustments to be made in the execution of work;
• Manage and monitor projects under his/her responsibility, while ensuring that costs, schedules and work compliance are respected;
• Guides and directs the work of department employees;
• Ensures compliance with current health and safety regulations in accordance with the project management framework program for all parties involved;
• Any other related duties.

Job requirements:

The incumbent must hold an undergraduate degree specializing in civil engineering or any other appropriate engineering field. The job requires four (4) years of relevant experience as a project manager.

The position also includes the following requirements:

• Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
• ASP card - General health and safety on construction sites
• Knowledge of and autonomy in CAD software (AutoCad), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, MsProject)
• Valid class 5 driver's license
• The position requires a good knowledge of French and English to be able to hold a conversation, take part in a work meeting, or write short texts or internal reports

Schedule:

35 hours per week

For the period between Thanksgiving and the first Monday in May: Monday to Friday inclusively, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., less one hour for lunch. For the period between the first Monday in May and Thanksgiving: Monday to Thursday inclusively, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., less 45 minutes for lunch; Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.
